Meet Jim

Hello, Ward 6! I’m Jim Sellers, and I’m running for Prairie Village City Council.

I grew up in Fairway, attending Prairie and Indian Hills before moving to Lexington, MO when my dad became Superintendent of Wentworth Military Academy—an institution founded by my great-great-grandfather in 1880. I spent my teenage years as a cadet there, learning discipline, self-reliance, and leadership—values I’ll bring to the City Council.

After Wentworth, I earned a BA in English Literature from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. My education sharpened my communication, critical thinking, and business skills.

Over the past 4 decades, I’ve had the privilege of working with top companies like FedEx, Procter & Gamble, and Coca-Cola in roles ranging from marketing to general management. I’ve learned to identify opportunities, develop practical solutions, build high-performing teams, make smart investment decisions, and be accountable for results—experience I’ll apply in city government.

I look forward to connecting with as many of you as possible and working together to make Prairie Village an even better place for everyone.
